According to ancient legends the Fox Lake Sea Monster exists!!
We are hoping this legend will be proven at last!!
Fox Lake Regatta – Saturday July 31
9:00 AM - Return of the Horseshoe Tournament
The horseshoe tournament will return this year thanks to the generosity of Sandy McLennan. Details to follow but block 9:00am on your calendars and please register your interest in participating by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org
1:00 pm - New - Long Lake Race
We thought a lake long canoe and kayak race might also be fun while keeping us all within the rules right now. We’ll start at the north end and race to Snake Island in the south end. Prizes will be awarded for kayaks and for canoes in the following categories: youth (16 and under); open; and masters (over 55). You can have as many paddlers and passengers per boat as you want - as long as there is a life jacket for everyone. We will start at Robin and Pat’s dock at the north end (look for the Regatta boats) and all participants will start at the same time. Please let us know if you are interested in participating by contacting email@example.com.
1:30 (ish) pm Regatta Events
At the end of the Long Lake Race, Our famous Regatta boats will start touring the lake. This year the boats will start at the south end and proceed down both sides of the lake simultaneously. We can’t of course predict how long this will take, so please be ready for us anytime between 1:30 and 3:00pm. Our judges will remain on the boats and will present prizes to the participants on their beach or dock before we move to the next property.
We will be judging the following events, with extra points allotted for those who highlight this year’s theme - FOX LAKE SEA MONSTER.
Sandcastles - built on your own beach
Scavenger Hunt - show us that you’ve collected the items to receive your prize. Hunt details will be sent out on the evening before the Regatta, so you’ll have a few hours to prepare.
Decorate your boat, dock or beach.
Costumes and Talent - remember the FOX LAKE MONSTER theme!
3:00 - Flotilla and viewing of Regatta participants
We encourage everyone to come out in their boats for a nice afternoon cruise to view all of your friends and neighbour’s creative talents.
We will also have cards available at select docks, and if you collect them all you will be awarded a highly coveted Fox Lake Regatta participant ribbon!
Finally, we’d appreciate any volunteer support we can get. If you’d like to help with horseshoes, judging talent or decoration, or helping to record the winners of the long lake race, please let us know! Pontoon boats would also be especially helpful to run this year’s event
Fox Lake Corn Roast and Fall Fair – Saturday September 4. We are going to decide on if, and in what format, we can hold this event by early August. We will send out details as soon as we know what they are!
