A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Hello Neighbours,
I hope everyone has had a good winter and that you are enjoying the beginning of another beautiful summer at Fox Lake. I am looking forward to our usual summer activities: the FLA Annual General Meeting and get together in July, the 52nd Annual Fox Lake Regatta on Civic Holiday weekend and our end of summer Corn Roast and Fall Fair on Labour Day weekend. Dates and details are provided later in this newsletter.
Please join us for these fun and family-friendly events. Your guests are always welcome! We have been informed by Bell Canada that they are no longer planning to construct a Telecommunications Tower near Hoodstown Shores. They did not provide a reason for this change of plans. I know that many of you were looking forward to improvements in cell phone and internet service from the proposed tower. We will continue to explore options with the Town of Huntsville and other service providers and will keep you posted.
Once again, I extend my appreciation to my fellow FLA board and executive members and the other people around the lake who have volunteered to coordinate FLA activities and undertake various tasks.
A special thank you to Jim Harper who has electronically archived a huge number of old FLA documents and files.
This spring, we regretfully accepted the resignation of long-time FLA Board and executive team member, Christa Casselman-Sharp. Over the years, Christa’s extensive knowledge about, and commitment to, preserving Fox Lake’s natural environment, has been a great asset to us all. Thank you, Christa!
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the lake over the summer!
Sincerely,
Alix Yule,
FLA President
