President’s Report AGM 2009

Thanks to Board for time and input throughout the year: Gwen St .John (secretary), Karen Beamer, (Social), Pat Currie, Rob Randall, Robin Yule , Tom Perkin  As well I would like to thank Jim McMahon as Treasurer, David White Lake Steward. Thanks to Elaine Jackson who does a great job with our newsletter and has chaired the Lake Plan committee and ensured that the Lake Plan has reached completion.

Rob Randall has served as VP of FLA for the last three years and liaison with Huntsville Town Council. Rob is stepping down this year. Rob has been a great support to me and his words of Council on a number of issues has been appreciated. His humour is also appreciated and will be missed.

Issues addressed by the FLA association over the past year

• Lake Plan – process of tendering and hiring of Jack Vander Meer to do the Lake Plan.  Thanks to Lake Plan committee –Elaine Jackson , Rob Randall, Ellen Fox,  Jack Vander Meer,  David White

• Gabriel Anderson for her historical research into the Fox Lake Area- some of which is incorporated into the Lake Plan

• Web site –launching of web site in June –Our Web Designer and maintainer is Emily Durtnall a student at Humber College Lakeshore Campus.

• Attendance at FOCA annual meeting

• Comments to Huntsville Town Council on zoning variances for lake front properties and back lots. Also brought to the attention of town a couple of land clearance issues.

• David White , Lake Steward facilitated a new sounding of the lake depth with MNR in May

• Communication of  lake concerns with camps via Board –Island Privy

• Garbage proper containers on day of garbage (ravens ,bears)

• Boating safety on lake-proper speed within 30 metres of shore- cognizant of other boaters, kayakers, canoers, sailors
